UVs and Bake



I was gonna go crazy on the sculpt, but..I looked at the weapons in the game again and I find that most of the sculpts was pretty simple so I kept it at that, not too fancy.

Blockout for both versions


Put the scale dude in there to see the length and the size. I decided to make the blades bigger so that it seems like a good weight for the male character in the game. 
Change the silhouette


Exaggerated the blade more and shortened the handle a bit to create a more close combat/ one handed feel to it.

Reference for the first axe that I am going to make for 'Orcs Must Die' ---Since it is two different versions, it would have to be two completely different silohuettes so I need all the reference I can get. Even though there are no axes in this game, there is a Dwarven hammer for the war mage. So... tecnically, its the same basic concept where it is a short range attack and instead of a blunt object, it is now a sharp object. So in short I would use the Dwarven hammer for reference as well.

Details Added



With the details added, it was best that I added some color to that gray or it would have a totally different feel to it.

Decided to go with these colors for now. Gonna run through a detail texture pass...Just a base color for now.

Unwrapped the gun....had a bit of trouble with the layout, but finally managed to fit it all in.

Power Supply Update


I fixed up some things like normals and emissive. Found out why some edges were so soft...(soften edges). I harden the ones that needed to be hard and it seems more like metal now.

Final Gathering!






Used final gathering for this render. The emissive was giving me problems on mental ray. Did some research and figured it out and I got to turn on final gathering for the renderer!
Tried using the color scheme...


Uhhh....might want to stick with one stone color and pop it out with some emissive.
